Let me correct somet things: 1- that thing of the cars part its not true at all, I mean we have those cars in rural parts of the country, not in the citys, I can understand that she wanted to compare "american muscles" and SUV's from america to Portugal but in America the cars are bigger compared with EVERY single country in EUrope, specially the SUV's they are completely Bathtubs compared to European SUV's. 2- yes we have climate control, most of the new houses made after 2010 with prices higher than 200.000$ already have. 3- in portugal we dont ask or simply expect tips because it CAN BE seen as a bribery. with this Im not saying that we dont give tips, and Ive seen some people trying to give a tip not as a compensation but trying to achive their goals as clients. 4- in the partys some people make the " after hours" they leave the discos at 6 am or 7 am and go to other partys.

As a portuguese I need to say something about the prices. Our prices are low because we are poor!!! 1000 euros of cost living is too much! It is not cheap in any way for majority of portuguese citizens! Our minimum salary is 700 euros and normally we get way less than that per month! And at this point as the portuguese economy is, we are just surviving So, please, don't see hour houses as an easy and cheap way to live, cause than the house prices go up (our salaries don't) and the citizens cannot find a home themselfs! Visit? Welcome in! Moving from a country to another looking for a better life? Bem vindo! Buying a house simply because it's cheap? Please don't. Ps: I'm not exagerating, this has been happenning over the years and it's getting worse. Do not advertise Portugal as a cheap way to live.

Hi, Swede here: 1. The public transportation thing - Basically, Swedish people really value their personal space. If there are free, empty seats, better pick one of those. If there aren't any, you're fine, sit wherever you like, swedish people are generally very reasonable. 2. The candy thing: We tell kids they can only have candy on saturdays (due to a study in the 50's were they concluded that it was better for your teeth to only eat sugar like once a week instead of sporadically throughout the week). As an adult you can do whatever you want though, lol. 3. Singing out loud in public is generally considered a weird thing to do, unless you're a busker or street artist of some sort. Again, personal space, don't bother strangers unless you have to. Same goes for loud, public conversations, phonecalls and such. 4. Punctuality is "considered" important in swedish society, but varies massively depending on the situation and or company. 5. Small talk: Depends entirely on the person, situation and your relation to the person. Small talk with strangers rarely happen, unless it's an old person. Generally, swedes prefer more direct conversation, especially with strangers i.e. "do you NEED to speak to me about something or are you just passing the time?" This can vary, depending on where you are and who you are speaking with. 6. Take your damn shoes off when entering someones home. This is standard practise in like 99% of the world. 7. Staring. Yeah, it's just considered either: weird, hostile or flirty (in a weird way), or any mix of the three. Looking at people is fine. Staring is weird. 8. Yeah, no, the elevator thing is BS. If you need to use the elevator, go ahead, but usually, unless you know your fellow passenger(s) there will be an awkward silence. His neighbour probably was racist. Or really introverted. Or both. Or just trying to be polite. 9. Feel free to discuss any of these topics, but pick your time and place (and people). Like in the US, people feel very strongly about these topics. We also have (had?) a culture of people being vague about who they voted for, some consider it very personal (also we don't generally talk about money, or how much we make). Other swedes, feel free to chime in, especially if you disagree or if you have anything to add.

Thought i'd provide you with a bit of info in terms of the season. Since your coming here in the summer. Denmark in June, the sun rises around 4.00 & sets around 22.30. More or less the same in southern Sweden, the further north you go the longer it's gonna be up. Not knowing what you're used to in terms of the sun rising/setting, you might wanna bring a sleeping mask unless you wanna get up really early of course , or never go to sleep🤣. Simple we rather pay more taxes then having to deal with homeless people and the damages that comes from that like unpaid hospital bills, crime, etc etc. It's not out of mercy. It's just cheaper in the end. Also gives a sense of security to all civilians, that whatever happens they will have 70% of minimum as income even if they are unable to work forever again for any reason. The very few you see on the streets are people that have found holes in the system refusing any help or illegal immigrants or just it came too sudden to help them out on time and they fell through the cracks like a sudden increase of refugees and not enough homes available.

For accommodation, you should also have alook at ymca, airbnb, but a little outside town. Like in vooenhagen and even allborg there are local trains and good public transport to town centrr, or grab a public bicycle in Copenhagen and drive around on it, but remember to lesrn the bicycle rules

I hope you will enjoy bith sides, and enjoy with an open mind. Try to also go out of Copenhagen, and if you can try to go to northern part of Denmark and the town of Aalborg, within 1 hour from therr you have lovely beaches, the wandering dune, and a lot more cool stuff.
